Whether you’re looking for silk or cotton, prints or solid colors, these face masks make everyday PPE easy Over the course of the past two months, you’ve probably fashioned some sort of face mask that has allowed you to venture outside while meeting CDC recommendations for cloth face coverings. But if your experience has been similar to mine, you’ve realized that the homemade masks we’ve devised out of hair ties and cut-up tshirts and bandanas aren’t going to cut it for the long run. So, it’s time to invest in well-made, reusable, non-medical face masks. It’s just a matter of finding the right ones. Preparing E-Commerce for the Post-COVID Bounce Back

{ object.primary_image.title }}

Posted by MrLukeCarthy COVID-19 has switched up life as we know it, and it’s unlikely to stop doing so for some time. E-commerce shopping is a perfect example of how things have changed, and in a number of ways. If you feel like Shopify has been dropping huge, disruptive news bombs practically each week now, you’re right! And who’d have guessed that in the UK, the exclusively online supermarket, Ocado, is now worth more than brick-and-mortar grocers Morrisons, Sainsbury's, and Marks and Spencer combined. The speed of transformation in e-commerce since the COVID-19 outbreak (an already fast-paced industry) has been savage. Supply chains are under strain for many brands selling online (especially where demand is high and supplies are low). How do you best manage expectations and maximize every opportunity to sell to your target audience? With your consumers now relying on the world of online shopping more than ever, …

This DIY mask test kit finds that your neck fleece isn’t really helping

{ object.primary_image.title }}

Scientists developing a tool to help mask manufacturers make sure their cloth masks actually work found some masks work better than others, and one kind works particularly badly. If you buy a cloth mask online—whether from Amazon or Etsy or a large manufacturer such as Adidas—you’ll see a warning reminding you that what you’re buying isn’t medical grade. And while the evidence continues to mount that cloth face masks work, it’s also true that every mask isn’t equally effective, and many companies now making masks are doing it for the first time. In the absence of regulation for cloth masks, as shortages of more proven N95 masks continue, how can consumers or the manufacturers making masks know how much protection they offer? Read Full Story

Think of the acoustic draperies in theaters, or when you pull the covers over your head. Now that we’re all wearing masks, it’s worth applying this understanding to our faces, and realizing that, yes, putting two or three layers of fabric in front of our mouths muffles the heck out of our speech. This is the conclusion of a new acoustics study that was presented this week at the annual meeting of the Acoustical Society of America. Read Full Story

This hoodie comes with a built-in mask

{ object.primary_image.title }}

You don’t need to carry your mask with you, you can just zip the hood—made of filtering material—up tight around your face. If you’re tired of wearing a DIY mask, a new hoodie offers another option: a built-in mask, made from a material that can (theoretically) filter out more germs than an N95 mask, zips up into the hood—which is itself a filter. The hoodie , which is available for preorder now, is the latest design from G95 , a company that also makes scarves that double as air filters. Read Full Story
