‘I talked to your bankers’: Watch Barbara Walters call out Trump for lying in a tense 1990 interview

{ object.primary_image.title }}

In a clip from a 30-year-old ’20/20′ episode, Trump tries to sidestep the truth. Walters isn’t having it. Barbara Walters is trending on this #ThrowbackThursday for an old clip of an interview she did with Donald Trump for 20/20 back in August 1990, when Trump was facing financial trouble on almost every front, from the Taj Mahal casino to his airline to Manhattan land developments. The clip circulating on Twitter begins with Trump stating that he hopes the general public understands “how inherently dishonest the press in this country is.” Walters replies with, “As a member of the press, let me try to clear up some of the things which you say aren’t true.” She then goes to town and doesn’t let up when he tries to interrupt her or talk around some pointed questions. It’s the type of serious interview that we haven’t seen nearly enough of in the past four years (partial credit to Chris Wallace for his recent sit-down with 45). Read Full Story

New Biden campaign ad fights Trump BS fire with Trump BS fire

{ object.primary_image.title }}

In response to President Trump using Dr. Fauci’s words out of context, the Biden campaign did some selective quoting of Trump himself. One of the most common new hobbies over the past four years has been for critics of President Trump to retweet his old tweets that directly contradict something he’s said or done on any given day. There’s always a tweet, right? Last month, the Biden campaign used a 10-second clip of President Trump during a rally speech saying, “If I lose to him, I don’t know what I’m going to do. I will never speak to you again . . . . You’ll never see me again.” Read Full Story

Breaking down President Biden’s data-driven social media strategy

{ object.primary_image.title }}

Just days before the 2020 Presidential election, we reported that Joe Biden was outperforming Donald Trump on social media by certain key metrics. Despite the penetrating volume of Trump’s Twitter feed, Biden was earning more interactions per tweet, and far more interactions per user. Not only was Biden winning on Twitter, but his campaign was making an impact on YouTube and even on Twitch. And, of course, he won the election. But this wasn’t a social media campaign based on flair and instinct: it was tightly driven by social analytics. No-one can better explain how that worked in practice than Sarah Galvez, Director of Social Media and Audience Development at Biden for President. Sarah J.
