{ object.primary_image.title }}

The paradox raises difficult questions about how we remember the past. Many tourists–especially people who come from western democracies–are fascinated with the communist pasts of central and eastern European countries. Art matters more than ever during the COVID-19 crisis

{ object.primary_image.title }}

In this time of crisis and isolation, the role of art becomes more central to our lives, whether we realize it or not. People are dying, critical resources are stretched, and the very essence of our freedom is shrinking—and yet we are moved inward, to the vast inner space of our thoughts and imagination, a place we have perhaps neglected. For some, there are more pressing needs. But momentary joys, even in dire circumstances, often come through the arts and collective expression. Read Full Story

Canceling the MarTech Conference scheduled for next month and sharing our updated plans ahead

{ object.primary_image.title }}

Hey, I hope you’re doing okay. A crazy and surreal time we’re in. The photo above is my new “office” in the basement of my house. Yeah, I’ve got a green screen set up. I’d like to claim it’s to support seamless virtual backgrounds in the continuous stream of video meetings that now occupy my day. But truthfully, it’s mostly just to hide the massive piles of clutter that our basement gravitationally accumulates. My wife bumped me out of our home office that’s above ground, with a nicer view and fewer heaps of random stuff, to make it her new work-from-home command center. Last year, the country’s central bank launched Cobro Digital (CoDi), a platform enabling anyone, including the 38% of Mexican adults without bank accounts, to make cashless payments. Jane Fraser, then Citibank’s CEO of Latin America, and her team helped design QR code specs to simplify transactions on mobile phones. She tapped Citibank experts from around the world (mobile banking is hugely popular in Asia) to work with the Mexico team to build and market the app. Today the bank’s Mexican subsidiary, Citibanamex, serves 6.5 million digital clients, and transactions under 8,000 pesos, or about …

Why introvert leaders excel during a crisis

{ object.primary_image.title }}

It’s no surprise that introverted leaders are more attuned to asking questions, rather than barging in with non-contextualized answers. In crises, many leaders listen less because they believe immediate action is required. Usually, they are acting from a mindset that using techniques associated extroversion is the only way to get ahead. Unfortunately, those leaders often forget that employees, the people actually taking the action, are key to navigating challenges. During the coronavirus pandemic, when many people are working from home and communicating through screens, adopting the traits of an introverted leader can help. Read Full Story
