Today the company released a “Local Economy Coronavirus Impact Report,” which details how consumer interests have shifted due to coronavirus. Yelp, the public business locator and review hub, is in a prime position to gather insight on consumer behavior during the COVID-19 pandemic. Unilever’s new nano-factories fit in a shipping container, so they can go anywhere in the world

Designed to make small batches of products with local materials, the consumer goods giant hopes the new factories can cut down on their footprint by allowing them to make products closer to the source. Inside a 40-foot shipping container parked in the Dutch town of Wageningen, the global base for Unilever’s food and refreshment business, there will soon be a fully-functioning production line for the consumer goods company’s liquid bouillon. By making the product in a shrunken-down space, the company hopes to reduce its carbon footprint, produce less waste, and eventually be able to ship these nano-factories to new spots around the world so they can take advantage of local ingredients. They are also some of the biggest plastic polluters on the planet. They sell goods in single-use plastic containers, which end up in our oceans and never biodegrade. And in turn, a landmark lawsuit by the Plastic Pollution Coalition and Earth Island Institute has been filed in California against all of the aforementioned corporations and several other major food, beverage, and consumer product companies. Don’t buy a DIY coronavirus test that you can take at home

Last week, several companies announced they would launch home testing for COVID-19. After the FDA said the tests weren’t authorized, many have been forced to pull their products. Last week, several direct-to-consumer health companies announced they would start selling do-it-yourself, home-based coronavirus tests.
